Pony Club Medieval Fun Show

After the dreadful rain all day Friday we felt very lucky to have sunny skies on Saturday 18^th June for the Fun Show  held at Oatlands, Santon (Kind permission of Mr & Mrs D Shacklock).   This is a very informal event popular with younger members and included mounted and unmounted Fancy dress, , hobby horse racing, mounted games, handy pony, castle racing and clear round jumping.  Everything had a medieval theme with the handy pony taking place in ‘Sherwood Forest’, barrel racing became castle racing and the games involved swords, dragons and castle turrets.  There were some excellent costumes and the difficult job of judging the fancy dress fell to our very sympathetic land owner Gill Shacklock.  The results for the day were as follows:-

The next events held by the Pony Club are for Members only and these are the series of Summer rallies held each Thursday until 7^th July at Oatlands, two sessions 5.15pm and 6.30pm. Entries to Chris Chatel by previous Monday please.  The Dressage Group are holding a Dressage Competition at Oatlands on Saturday afternoon 25^th June and there will be special classes for Pony Club members please check outwww.iomdressagegroup.co.uk for further details.

Diddy Camp May 2011

Diddy camp for the youngest members of Pony Club was held at the Glebe Stables on Sunday 29^th May, where the proprietors Haydn and Jo Cubbon made all 17 tiny members most welcome.  The members were divided into three groups and each group received on hour riding instruction from popular local instructor Michelle Hargreaves, whilst one group was riding in the indoor school one group were instructed for their practical horsecare with Vicki Hargreaves and the other group completed some mini achievement badges with AnneMarie Robinson with the help of older members, Katy Robinson, Breeshey Evans, Jordanne Kennaugh and Charlotte Driver.  A delicious lunch of sausage baps and an ice cream was served in the Cubby Hole by Haydn and then all members participated in the final stages of the Mini Tetrathlon i.e.  riding, running and ‘shooting’ (bean bags) – the swimming having taken place on the previous Tuesday at Mr. & Mrs. Blaymire’s lovely swimming pool  where all the children had a wonderful time.  Fortunately the sun came out in the afternoon and the running and ‘shooting’ took place in glorious weather – so much better than running in the rain!
